Around 1980, the museum began its operation, and today there are exhibitions in two colonial period buildings as well as storage facility and workshop in several other houses. In the former colony manager’s residence, various local works are displayed, including carvings, photos (including slides) and music (sheet music). Moreover, the building has an interior consisting of locally made furniture. Dinghies, kayaks, tools and models are exhibited in the former shop building. One of the very few whale hunting costumes from traditional whale hunting in Greenland is one of the museum’s largest treasures.
On the first floor of the same building there is a geological exhibition with rock samples from all over the country as well as cooper’s tools, tubs and barrels.
